Welcome to the Toucan class.

In the Toucan class Miss Megan Rose-Hall is the Class Teacher. Tracey Taylor is the Teaching Assistant. The staff who work in the Toucan class are kind and friendly, and they work hard to ensure that the Year 1 children have opportunities to achieve their full potential.

Miss Rose-Hall plans for exciting learning opportunities that reflect the needs of the children and their current levels of attainment, their interests, and next steps to move their learning forward.
The children across school have opportunities to learn in lots of bright and exciting spaces like the artificial grassed area, the garden area, the playground and the school field.

There are lots of opportunities to learn in a variety of ways. The children in our class learn through direct taught sessions, such as Phonics, English and Mathematics. Throughout the week they also have the opportunity to engage with Continuous Provision, which includes exciting activities based on the children’s interests and linked to areas of the National Curriculum. These activities are practical and encourage our children to become independent learners.

Throughout the year our children take part in educational visits to Hardwick Park, and we also work with people in our local and wider communities.

The children in our class work with lots of different children throughout the day and they are expected to work hard and do their best. They enjoy learning and helping each other learn.

During their time at school the children are encouraged to be Eco friendly and to look after the school. They are given opportunities to take part in a wide range of after school clubs and success at out of school clubs are celebrated in school.
